Restaurateur Biridiana Frausto brings her family’s flavors of Mexico with the opening of the second Fonda Lupita in Durham at 905 W. Main Street. The original Fonda Lupita sits in Sanford, North Carolina, and was named a Best New Restaurant by Eater in 2021.

Frausto and her team highlight cuisine from her mother’s home of Querétaro, Mexico. Fonda Lupita is well known for its gorditas filled with ample amounts of chorizo or chicken tinga. Stews, like the peppery menudo, are also a hit. The menu rotates, but customers can expect to find quesabirria, tortas, tacos, burritos, sopes, and more.

Fonda Lupita opens daily, starting at 11 a.m. Visit the Brightleaf Square location for fresh tortillas and soulful Mexican cuisine.
