Perpetually packed smoked meat stop Buxton Hall Barbecue (32 Banks Avenue, Asheville) will serve its last pulled pork plate on Wednesday, November 22. News of the shutdown first broke in the Ashevegas Shot Sheet Substack.

A representative for the restaurant says, “This is an evolving situation, and we will have more news to share from the Chai Pani Restaurant Group in the coming months.”

Buxton Hall Barbecue opened in 2015 to bring Carolina barbecue to Asheville. Restaurateur Meherwan Irani (of Chai Pani fame) paired with chef Elliott Moss (at the time, known for his work at the Admiral) to make whole hog happen in the South Slope neighborhood. Moss would later go on to bring Texas-style meats to the area in 2021. The team also opened Buxton Chicken Palace in the S&W Market in 2021. Moss exited the restaurants in 2022.

Will the Chai Pani team open up another restaurant in the space? They recently opened a Botiwalla in West Asheville, so it probably won’t be that. Keep an eye out for updates on the building at 32 Banks Avenue.
