Everyone’s favorite Y2K couple, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, tied the knot on Saturday, August 20, and the question on everyone’s mind is — who catered the affair? Ok, maybe that’s only us. The wedding, held at Hampton Island Preserve (a former rice plantation) in Ricesboro, Georgia, pulled in chefs from North and South Carolina.
A recently published Vogue article cataloging Lopez’s three custom Ralph Lauren wedding gowns also mentions that chef Bruce Moffett, from Charlotte, North Carolina, and Cru Catering, from Charleston, South Carolina, fed the guests at the reception dinner.
After the ceremony, family and friends—all wearing white—gathered for a cocktail reception at the home before making their way to the barn for the dinner, which was overseen by Chef Bruce Moffett and Cru Catering. The night’s festivities were topped off with cake by Minette Rushing Custom Cakes, a dance party led by DJ Dubz, and a fireworks display.
Moffett owns Moffett Restaurant Group, which runs a range of places from global small plate spot Good Food on Montford to Southern-meets-Northeastern establishment Barrington’s. Cru Catering comes from Charleston chef John Zucker, who specializes in Southern favorites, most notably his famous mac and cheese at Cru Cafe. Both groups got their start in 2000, which is a year before Lopez and Affleck faithfully met on the set of “cultural punchline” Gigli.
Which celebrities chowed down at the Bennifer wedding? What did they eat? We won’t find out until more photos are published, but the couple is keeping the press pretty tight on this one.
