Chef/author/restaurateur Elliott Moss is no longer with Buxton Hall Barbecue (32 Banks Avenue, Asheville) or Buxton Chicken Palace (56 Patton Avenue, Asheville). He announced the departure on Instagram yesterday, stating, “I’m heart broken to say that I’m officially officially no longer involved or apart of Buxton Hall Bbq or Buxton Chicken Palace. My partners and I have decided to part ways and I have sold my interest in the business to them.”

In 2015, Moss partnered with restaurateur Meherwan Irani (of Chai Pani fame) to bring Carolina barbecue to Asheville with the opening of Buxton Hall Barbecue. The restaurant garnered tons of buzz from national publications. Moss would later go on to bring Texas-style meats to the area in 2021. The team also opened Buxton Chicken Palace in the S&W Market in 2021.

According to Moss’ Instagram post, he’s staying in Asheville, and he’s opening another restaurant, stating that he’s already signed a lease and it might open in 2022. Will it be more barbecue? He hints that he’s not done with barbecue. Stay tuned.
