Charlotte restaurant Kiki Bistro opened in November 2019, serving Greek and Eastern Mediterranean food in the Plaza Midwood area. But as the entire world changed within a few months, due to COVID-19, so did the needs of the neighborhood. More people worked from home and more young families were moving into Plaza Midwood. Kiki co-owners Andy and Lesa Kastanas, who also own popular Soul Gastrolounge, received frequent requests for lunch at their restaurants. The Kastanas decided to shut down Kiki and turn it around to become Sister, an all-day cafe.

Announced today, 1500 A Central Avenue will reopen as Sister on Friday, January 28. The restaurant will still offer Greek and Mediterranean food, but now it will have breakfast and lunch items like spanakopita, baklava, moussaka, salads, gyros, and more. The Kastanas are also bringing over items from Soul Gastrolounge like the pork belly tacos and anchovy fries.

Tattoo Liquor Lounge, the bar connected to the former Kiki Bistro, will remain.

Starting hours for Sister will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesdays to Thursdays; 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., Fridays to Saturdays; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays; and closed Mondays.
