Home Team BBQ Opens Sixth Location in Greenville, South Carolina

It’s time for dry rubbed wings and Game Changers

This past Wednesday, May 19, the doors swung wide open on the sixth Home Team BBQ and officially welcomed Greenville residents to see just what all the excitement is about, after all the COVID-19 delays. Much like a sip of the restaurant’s signature frozen cocktail, the Game Changer, launching the newest addition to the Home Team BBQ restaurants in Greenville has been just as fulfilling for owner and pitmaster Aaron Siegel and his team. In a press release, Siegel says, “It is especially sweet to share our barbecue with the Greenville community after the uncertainty we felt last spring. This project has been a labor of love for close to four years.”

Award-winning smoked meats and treats that include smoked chicken wings, smoked turkey, pulled pork or ribs, smoke-ringed beef brisket, a charred burger draped with cheese and crisp bacon, house-made sausage, two different green salads and a stable of six homemade barbecue and hot sauces for the various carnivorous cravings. Customers can order a platter and try them all, alongside traditional barbecue sides like beans, slaw, Brunswick stew, hash and rice, and collards, along with crunchy tater tots, pork cracklin’s, barbecue nachos and creamy mac-n-cheese. Patrons can pair these offerings, with one of the selections from the extensive bar menu including the aforementioned Game Changer or a frozen Irish coffee.

Customers are greeted by the glow of the smiling Home Team hog mascot. The dining room is framed by the wide-open Blue Ridge Mountain skyline with concert posters, photographs and a mural of the late Colonel Bruce Hampton adorning the walls of the spacious 7,000-square-foot barbecue joint.

With local favorites like SBH Barbecue, Mike and Jeff’s, and Bacon Brothers having set the stage, Home Team BBQ joins some rather established culinary company. Now, with Husk Barbeque open and the newest addition to the Lewis Barbecue family coming in 2020, Greenville is primed for a breakout year in the barbecue scene.
