It was a pretty weird weekend in Charleston to start December off this year. Two former Saturday Night Live stars were spotted hanging out at two different area restaurants.
The legendary Bill Murray, who has a home in the Lowcountry, was snapped sleeping outside of Broad Street establishment Fast & French. And while the photo was obviously staged (maybe not, it’s Bill Murray — he does whatever he wants), some commenters suggested maybe he try out the cafe’s abundant French press coffee or avoid the free glass of wine that comes with lunch.
Murray is well known to pop up around Charleston at local restaurants, such as Queen Street Grocery, where there is a crepe named after him on the menu.
Across town, in North Charleston, another former SNL actor Chevy Chase took orders at chicken finger chain Raising Cane’s. He greeted customers at the drive-thru, chatted with visitors in the dining room, ate some lunch, and participated in a TikTok. Chase was in town for a screening of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation as it is the 30th anniversary of his role as Clark Griswold in the beloved holiday film.
It seems the two old colleagues met up while Chase was in town, as he posted a Tweet about them together on December 2 (though, with a questionable caption).
