Save room for rum punch by the ocean, because downtown Charleston dive bar the Royal American is expanding to 15 Center Street at Folly Beach. This is the former address of Hawaiian-themed restaurant Wiki Wiki Sandbar. Owner Karalee Nielsen Fallert announced the move on Instagram yesterday.

She posted:

Big news: We will be serving our last Coconut Shrimp & Pineapple Incident as Wiki Wiki Sandbar on December 31, 2021.

Bigger news: Later this spring, The Royal American team will be opening a neighborhood bar & restaurant at 15 Center Street. Stay tuned and follow along at @theroyalamerican as we share forthcoming offerings and opening information.

@wikiwikisandbar will be open until Friday, December 31st with our regular hours. Come toast Wiki Wiki and enjoy our spot where the weather’s always nice, the drinks are strong and the seafood’s local… and know you can also come see your favorite Wiki smiling faces at a @tacoboychs near you!

We’re grateful for your support and look forward to seeing you across the bar in the future.

Aloha from the Edge,

Karalee Nielsen Fallert

The Royal American is very popular with the downtown crowds, so it will most likely also be a hit at the beach.
