Brooklyn-Favorite Emmy Squared Plans Charlotte Location

Detroit-style pizzas and beefy burgers on the way

Erin Perkins is the editor of Eater Carolinas.

What started as a pizza hotspot in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, Emmy Squared has blossomed on the East Coast with several locations — the latest target in Charlotte, North Carolina. The restaurants is widely known for its Detroit-style thick crust pizza and its double-stacked burger on a pretzel bun, which has won multiple best-of awards.

The Charlotte location will open in the summer 2021, barring any complications from the COVID 19 pandemic. The location details are not yet available.

Emmy Squared opened in 2016 in Brooklyn and now has three New York locations with additional spots in Nashville, Louisville, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. The restaurant tends to spur a cult following for the thick square-cut pizzas and casual, yet hip atmosphere. Emmy Squared joins other New York transplants, like Shack Shake, as Charlotte’s culinary scene continues to grow.
