The Emmy-nominated Netflix series Chef’s Table is back with episodes focusing on the art of smoked meats, and Charleston’s own Rodney Scott has his own episode that premièred yesterday, Wednesday, September 2.
His episode chronicles his time from a boy in Hemingway, South Carolina, to a barbecue mogul in Charleston. It’s an uplifting story, and Scott’s platitudes really steal the show. Each one could easily be a bumper sticker or a t-shirt. Here’s a few of our favorites:
- “You can’t help but wonder, ‘What’s going on where that smoke is coming from?’”
- “What did I do yesterday that I can improve on today?”
- “Every day is a good day. It doesn’t always go as smooth as we want, but life is what you make it.”
- “My glass is going to be half full each time.”
- “You’re in for a heck of a meal.”
- “What am I going to do in my life?”
- “If you kept it coming off hot, the aroma is always in the air, and people just want it.”
- “I wanted to make things better.”
- “Fame is only 15 minutes; we have nine left; let’s go to work.”
- “Opportunity doesn’t knock all the time like this.”
