While other states have switched up the rules for cocktail delivery, North and South Carolina bars and restaurants can only offer wine and liquor for the most part.
After a steep decline in revenue, due to stay-at-home orders, the owner of Charleston cocktail bar Proof, Craig Nelson decided he needed another way to keep afloat. “We started a GoFundMe right off the bat,” he says, “but so did everyone else.” He thought about offering gift certificates, but that didn’t seem like the best option, so that’s when he came up with the Golden Ticket raffle.
For a mere $30, participants will receive a $100 bar tab every day the bar is open for a year. Next week the price for a ticket will go up to $50 and again go up the following week. Here are the rules:
The recipient of the Golden Ticket will have up to a $100 per day tab for one calendar year (excluding holidays and private parties). This will also allow access to our special events and a “first in line” pass. The Golden Ticket is non-transferable, meaning, the winner must be present in order to redeem (Exceptions and restrictions may change at the discretion of Proof). The ticket is valid on the first day that we restart normal business. *Cannot be used for popup food offerings.
So far, they’ve sold 120 tickets. Nelson says he will use this money to reopen Proof, bring the employees back, and get the bar restocked once they are allowed back in business.
