Prince’s Hot Chicken Lands in South Carolina

The Nashville staple expands to Greenville

Erin Perkins is the editor of Eater Carolinas, covering the food and restaurant scene across North and South Carolina.

The legendary home to Nashville’s most famous dish, Prince’s Hot Chicken, has decided to expand to Greenville, South Carolina. According to the press release, Prince’s will open in November in the Yee-Haw Brewing Company location at 307 East McBee Avenue.

Yee-Haw will carry the same menu as Prince’s in Nashville, with options ranging from plain to “XXX HOT” chicken. The brewery is reopening after closing for six months due to Covid-19. The new facility will have outdoor dining and other upgrades.

Semone Jeffries, whose mother has owned Prince’s for 38 years, will visit Greenville to train staff on how to make the hot chicken. The Jeffries aren’t giving up any recipes though — the proprietary hot spice mix will remain a secret and stay in the family. They’ll make it in Nashville and transport it regularly to Greenville.

This means fans of hot chicken in South Carolina won’t have to take a trip to Tennessee to get a taste.
