Just under the Meeting Street Lofts at 601 Meeting Street, forthcoming Italian restaurant Gale has signage up announcing its impending arrival. The new addition to the Charleston food scene comes from industry vets Mari and Brett Chizinski.

According to the website,

Gale will offer dishes that represent the beautiful produce and protein found here in the Lowcountry in an Italian family style setting. People are encouraged to come gather and feel at home as dishes are served to be shared, including old school Italian pizza and pasta options.

The Chizinskis are working with interior design/architect firm the Middleton Group on the build out of the space, which looks bright and modern with an open kitchen. The Middleton Group also has more descriptions of the cuisine to come, stating,

The [Chizinskis] both have experience in Michelin fine dining, but what they enjoy most is unrefined, guilty-pleasure, comfort foods. Creative dishes such as house-made pig head mortadella corn dog or picnic style shrimp and corn pasta salad will form the menu.

Eater has reached out to Brett and the Middleton Group for more details.
