Executive chef Tres Jackson invites diners into Sorghum & Salt Monday, April 29 at 7 p.m. for a seven course meal in collaboration with LO-Fi Brewing that emphasizes everything the Lowcountry has to offer. Look for options like a green tomato michelada with the LO-Fi Mexican lager and crispy oysters or a blueberry wheat cracker with South Carolina beer cheese and Three Oaks Farm candied chicken skins. The seven course, seven beer all inclusive meal is $125, and the eatery is having the event on a Monday in the hopes of attracting members of the food and beverage industry who are usually working at tastings as opposed to participating in them.
9th Annual Gimme Shelter Event
Home Team BBQ’s downtown location is hosting the 9th Annual Gimme Shelter Event in partnership with Charleston nonprofit Operation Home, which raises funds for critical home repairs for families in the Tricounty area. This year’s theme is “Home Team Diner” and features off-menu eats aligned with the era of diners along with an open bar and live music from Junco Partner. The event takes place from 6-10 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, and tickets are $75.
Wine 101 at Zero George
Starting Saturday, May 4, Zero George will host a wine seminar the first Saturday of each month led by in-house sommelier Kathryn Old. Guests are invited to sample five wines along with a variety of light bites prepared by chef Vinson Petrillo. Tickets are $60 and the guest wine expert for the May 4 seminar will be Jake Smith from Grassroots Wine, as he tackles the theme: “Rosé All Day: Beyond Provence.”
John’s Island Farm Ride
Leon’s Oyster Shop and Basic Kitchen are teaming up with nonprofit Charleston Moves Saturday May 4 for the first ever John’s Island Farm Ride and Brunch. Ride from Burden Creek Dairy to Joseph Fields Farm to Lowland Farms to the John’s Island Farmers Market while snacking on specialty bites along the way. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and tickets are $40.
