Highly anticipated King Street project Maison opened over the Saint Patrick’s Day weekend. The new French bistro is the work of former chef at the Ordinary Vandy Vanderwarker and former Fish bartender Will Love.
Maison is located in the former Pancito & Lefty space at 708 King Street. The layout of the restaurant is the same as its predecessor, with a long bar looking into the kitchen and a more open dining room around the corner, but the room has an updated look. The bright neon is gone and now there are black and white photos of Paris, black-and-white tiled floors, large banquettes, and smaller bistro tables.
The menu changes often, but this past weekend, choices included a perfectly dressed salad of local lettuces, buttery escargot, steak frites, and a field pea gratin.
Maison is closed on Sundays, but is open for dinner service the other days of the week. The space will reopen on Wednesday, March 20.
