The team that brought long-standing 82 Queen to Charleston plans to open a Mexican restaurant on James Island soon. Just announced on Facebook by partner Jonathan Kish, the Queen Street Hospitality Group will reveal Jalisco Taqueria & Tequila by the end of the year.

The menu includes tacos, tamales, ceviche, and more. Jalisco Taqueria & Tequila will be located at 1271 Folly Road. Here’s how they describe the concept:

Jalisco, Mexico is vastly important to the culinary world. One of the major exports from Jalisco is Tequila. Being a tropic and coastal region of Mexico there are a lot of parallels to Charleston. The farm land and the bounty from the sea are abundant. Pork and Beef are staple in the diet in Jalisco as well. There is a rich history that has lead to a very unique and flavorful cuisine. Jalisco Taqueria & Tequila focuses on fresh local ingredients and pays respect to traditional recipes from Mexico. Enjoy tacos prepared in an authentic manner with fresh locally made tortillas. Enjoy local seafood and local produce. Enjoy a specialty tequila drink, or two. Watch your favorite game or play a game of cornhole or foosball. Jalisco on James Island is a fun, inviting new restaurant to get truly authentic Mexican cuisine, using only the best ingredients, at a very reasonable price. We look forward to seeing soon, Viva Mas a Jalisco Taqueria y Tequila!

So, cornhole, carnitas, and margaritas.
