Erin Perkins is the editor of Eater Carolinas, covering the food and restaurant scene across North and South Carolina.

Part-Italian and part-Mexican restaurant Congress announced in an email that it will shut down on February 2.

Co-owner Adrienne Ciaburri wrote:

We are moving on to some fun adventures, including local pop-ups and events showcasing Mark’s fantastic Mexican flavors, and we hope to have a new location to serve Mark’s delicious food in the near future. We will be posting updates on Instagram & Facebook to keep everyone apprised of what’s happening with us. We have truly enjoyed the love and support of all of our guests, many of whom have become good friends, and we know that we continue to have so much support as we move forward. We are local, and we will stay local.

After Mexican chain La Hacienda left 1035 Johnnie Dodds Blvd., Congress moved in three years ago. The eatery is the work of couple Mark and Adrienne Ciaburri, who moved from Austin to Charleston to bring a unique mix of Italian and Mexican flavors.
