Mexican-influenced eatery Pancito & Lefty opened in February 2017, after much anticipation, but the owner announced today that the cantina is no more.
Restaurateur Jimmy Poole offered the following statement:
It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to close the doors to Pancito & Lefty. We were able to properly inform our staff, who have worked hard for our business to create something everyone was proud of. We are incredibly grateful for their hard work and dedication. Our last day of service was September 3rd.
The original menu from chef/owner Robert Berry offered dishes like chicken tamales, tacos al pastor, queso fundido, quesadillas with squash, mushrooms, and huitalacoche, and many traditional Mexican dishes. In November 2017, chefs Greg Marks, Reid Henninger, and Corey Phillips were brought in to oversee the kitchen day to day. The menu changed as new chefs circulated through the restaurant.
The rumor on the street now is that former the Ordinary chef de cuisine Vandy Vanderwarker may take over the 708 King St. space.
