Long-standing steakhouse Breck’s declared it will remain open for lunch today, while many other Lowcountry restaurants have shut down to prepare for Hurricane Florence. The North Charleston institution took a play on the OPCON system to announce its opening on Facebook:

From the Brecks Command Center:

***STEAKCON 5 UPDATE***

We are open in North Charleston through lunch today!!!

Moncks Corner is closed for the duration of the storm.

Our PLAN is to shut down this afternoon and ride out the storm. We will reopen when it’s safe to do so.

So, if your Hurricane Stash is depleted and you’ve got some cabin fever going on.....and if you’ve eaten ALL the Vienna Sausages, Sardines and Potted Meat maybe you have some other issues.....we got you covered today.

First Responders: we appreciate what you do, come see us today and lunch is on us to show our appreciation!!!

***If you don’t mind....give us a “share” just to let folks know that we are open for lunch today, thanks!***

Be safe everyone!!

Other openings today include Bon Banh Mi in Mount Pleasant, Palace Hotel, all three Sticky Fingers, Maple Street Biscuits, One Broad Street, The Watch at Restoration Hotel, Chez Nous, Blind Tiger, the CodFather is open with pints and snacks, Kwei Fei will pop up at the Daily at 4 p.m., and Semilla will open for dinner.

Are you going out? Tweet at us @EaterCHS, or email charleston@eater.com. Eater will be updating this post.
