After just three years in business, new American restaurant 492 shut the doors over the weekend. Post and Courier reported that the staff learned of the closure after the brunch service on Sunday.
The entity that runs 492, Relish Restaurant Group, (which also runs Tristan Catering and Ms. Rose’s Fine Food & Cocktails) offered the following statement to the press:
After four years of service, Relish Restaurant Group has decided to close the doors to 492 and Tristan Catering + Events to focus on a single restaurant concept, Ms. Rose’s Fine Food & Cocktails. The last day of service for both entities was Sunday, August 26, 2018.
When asked what was next for the building or chef Josh Keeler, a publicist for the group added, “Relish Restaurant Group is exploring all options for the building and a decision has not yet been made. Chef Keeler does not have a statement at this time.”
Around 2014, Relish Restaurant Group saw potential in the downcast address at 492 King St. and decided to create a space for then-Tristan chef Nate Whiting. The team updated the building into a retro-glam restaurant, which switched chefs a year in and never really seemed to take off with the downtown crowds.
