It appears that Charleston will be the next location of Taiwanese teahouse chain Chatime. With over 1,000 addresses across the globe, the franchise is in over 30 countries. The South Carolina Chatime will sit at 28 Woolfe St., near the new luxury student apartments.
Once open, Chatime will serve milk teas, Red-Bull-laced teas, slushies, mouse-topped teas, bubble teas, and more.
The interiors of the space are bare now, so it may be awhile before Chatime comes online. In the meantime, those in search of bubble tea can stop by locally-owned Tapio at 65 Spring St. Post and Courier critic Hanna Raskin recently reviewed Tapio and praised the flavorful teas and curries with three stars. She wrote, “In short, there’s a better than nine out of 10 chance that the forthcoming curry, along with a series of noodle soups now in the evaluation phase, is going to be worth adding to your boba order.”
