Lewis Barbecue Hosts 6th Annual Jerky Off

NOMO — On Saturday, May 12, meat master Lewis Barbecue will host Charleston’s 6th annual Jerky Off. Guest chefs dehydrate the meat for title of “Best Jerky”. For $10 guests will sample all the jerky and benefit Lowcountry Local First. The meaty fun goes from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. [EaterWire]

NOMO Edmund’s Oast Brewing Company will donate $1 of every pint of its beer Something Cold sold this week through Thursday to the sister of chef Johnny Singleton, Jodie Adam, who was hit by a car last week while crossing the road. On Thursday, all of the proceeds from taproom sales will benefit Adams’s Go Fund Me campaign. She is currently in critical condition; money will go to cover medical expenses. [GoFundMe]

HARLESTON VILLAGE — On Wednesday, May 23, Wentworth Mansion restaurant Circa 1886 will host a special dinner in honor of the hotel’s 20th anniversary. Executive chef Marc Collins will prepare a five-course dinner and Willamette Valley wine maker Melissa Burr will provide the pairings. The cost of the dinner is $200, but half will be donated to fighting hunger with the local charity Feed the Need. The evening starts at 6:30 p.m., with a champagne toast. Find the menu here.
