For the past three years, the space that once held beloved Italian restaurant Il Cortile Del Re sat empty, until Charleston seafood mogul 167 Raw declared itself as the new owner of 193 King St. The tiny oyster-and-lobster-roll eatery started on East Bay Street as a market for fresh, sushi-grade seafood and shellfish, but shortly after it opened, turned into the ultimate spot for a rosé-soaked lunch or intimate dinner.

167 Raw quickly outgrew its small 289 East Bay St. space, with constant lines around the block, so its no wonder that it would want to expand to a bigger address.

For those who may not remember, Il Cortile Del Re was known for its simple Italian dishes, like crostini with burrata or pappardelle with wild boar ragu, romantic outdoor patio, and laid-back service.

This area south of Calhoun has recently become more popular with local restaurants, like Millers All Day, One Broad Street, and Bar Normandy.
