West Coast Tacos to Replace Burger Chain in Mount Pleasant

The details on Playa Taco

Google Maps/Playa Taco

Veteran restaurateur Roy Reeves wants to bring California-style tacos and rice bowls to Coleman Boulevard with the opening of Playa Taco at the end of this month. The eatery, located in the former BurgerFi space at 735 Coleman Blvd., will be “heavy on the taco side,” with influences from beachy, Cali-Baja cuisine.

Playa Taco will be chef-owned-and-operated with Reeves and his wife Lisa in charge of the offerings. The restaurant will open with only dinner service, with the idea of weekend brunch coming soon. Playa Taco will have a full bar and an outdoor seating section.

Before moving to Charleston several years ago, the Reeve ran restaurants in Connecticut and New York for over 20 years.

Play Taco is currently in the hiring phase, with ads out on Charleston Craigslist. Check back in for more opening details, photos, and menus soon.
