A Washington, D.C., favorite Estadio announced in September that it will open a second location in Charleston at 122 Spring St. The contemporary Spanish-style restaurant took to Instagram recently to show off its Lowcountry home as part of a new mixed-use development on the site of a former church. The caption reads, “Things are getting very merry on Spring Street and we’re gearing up to start building our restaurant on the other side of those walls! We can’t wait to open our doors to you later this winter. Stay tuned for updates! In the meantime, we wish you the happiest of holidays! ¡#salud!”
Owner/sommelier Max Kuller will run Estadio Charleston with chef Alex Lira (formerly of Bar Normandy) overseeing the culinary side of the establishment. According to a recent interview with Charleston City Paper, Kuller says the restaurant should be ready to go later this winter. He also says that the second location of Estadio will focus on rice dishes to give the restaurant a more Lowcountry flavor.
