East Bay restaurant Cane Rhum Bar & Caribbean Kitchen invited patrons to chill in an island atmosphere with a few rum drinks in the summer of 2016, and now chef/owner Paul Yellin is changing up the menus a bit. The food offerings, from the jumbo coconut shrimp and chicken coconut curry, are a bit more streamlined than the original menu.
There’s also an option for $6 Pain Killers and $6 empanadas during happy hour from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.

For those who may have not stopped by Cane, the bar and dining rooms are bright, lively, and inviting — a space that conjures vacationing in Barbados. The drinks are tropical and the rums are plentiful. There’s a large bar and seating for groups, with an open kitchen to watch the jerk chicken and mahi bites be made.
