Husk is Throwing A Hurricane Harvey Fundraiser This Week

Restaurants helping each other

Husk

Husk chef Sean Brock and team keep busy — in between preparing to open not one, but two new restaurants, they’ve even found time for charity.

For this Friday and Saturday (September 8 and 9), Husk will donate 100 per cent of proceeds from any Lioco winery wine and pimento cheese that the restaurant sells on those days. Those funds will go to Southern Smoke, a Houston charity event and organization run partly by chef Chris Shepherd (of celebrated restaurant Underbelly), helping recovery efforts after the city was flooded by Hurricane Harvey a week ago.

Southern Smoke hold a major annual fundraiser, which previously raised funds for people with multiple sclerosis. But this year’s event (on October 22) is dedicated to hurricane relief efforts, particularly for food and beverage industry workers facing a tough time after the storm.

Southern Smoke is partnered with Legacy Community Health, a Houston community hospital committed to offering healthcare services to Houstonians regardless of income or ability to pay for care.
