Midtown Bar & Grill Serves Last Vodka Soda Before Renovations

Last night, college-age favorite Midtown Bar & Grill locked the doors to undergo renovations. Blind Tiger Pub announced on its Instagram account that its sister watering hole (both are owned by King Street Hospitality Group) would close this week and return “better than ever for football season.”

With the temporary shutter of Midtown Bar & Grill also comes the shutter of the neighboring Pizza King takeout window.

With the ever-changing landscape of Upper King, its no wonder that Midtown Bar & Grill would want to polish up a bit. When the space opened at 559 King St. in 2009, mostly young bar hoppers hung out in the area — now it’s more trafficked by groups looking for dinner or a craft beer, not for shots. Perhaps with a few renovations, the bar can attract a bit of both?

Owner Mike Shuler wouldn’t give specifics about the renovations, but since the Blind Tiger Instagram post mentions football season, we can’t imagine it will stray far from the sports bar atmosphere it had originally.
