BevCon Starts Next Week — Here’s the Free Stuff

Bar industry conference BevCon Charleston takes place August 21 through 24 with learning sessions, private tastings, and parties — but there are also free events that the public can attend without a pass. There will be a lot of opportunity to sample cocktails from guest bartenders and party with other pop-ups. Here’s the rundown:

Monday, August 21
Kicking Things Off Happy Hour
4-6 p.m.
Location: Prohibition, 537 King St.
Bartenders Rob Mariani and Shannon Healy, from Alley Twenty-Six in Durham, will take over the Prohibition bar. Drinks available for purchase.

Late Night at Little’s Jack’s
9-11 p.m.
Location: Little Jack’s Tavern, 710 King St.
Bartender Stephen Palahach of New York’s Maison Premiere will guest behind the bar.

Tuesday, August 22
East Bay Street Bar Pop Ups
8–11 p.m.
Locations: Edmund’s Oast, 1081 Morrison Dr.; Home Team BBQ, 126 Willman St.; Bar Mash, 701 East Bay St.; Lewis Barbecue, 464 N. Nassau St.; Royal American, 970 Morrison Dr.
Each location will have guest bartenders from other restaurants, as well as spirit underwriters.

Late Night at Royal American
11 p.m.-2 a.m.
Location: Royal American
Party with gamay, rosé, muscadet, and karaoke.

Wednesday, August 23
King Street Bar Pop Ups
8–11 p.m.
Locations: The Cocktail Club, 479 King St.; The Macintosh, 470 King St.; Scarecrow Hearth & Liquor Bar, 23 Ann St.; Proof, 437 King St.; The Rarebit, 474 King St.
Each location will have guest bartenders from other restaurants, as well as spirit underwriters.

Late Night Bites
10 p.m.-midnight
Location: The Ordinary, 544 King St.
Chef Steven Satterfield hops into The Ordinary kitchen wit Mike Lata and Vandy Vanderwalker to offer a special late-night food menu that will be available with Peay Wines pairings. “The Drinking Coach” Tiffanie Barriere will be the guest bartender for the evening.

Thursday, August 24
Let’s Get Lit: Featured Author Book Signing
7–8 p.m.
Location: Oyster Shed at Leon’s, 698 King St.
Books and drinks available for purchase from BevCon featured authors.

After Party: Frat Party
11 p.m.-2 a.m.
Location: Warehouse, 45 Spring St.
One last chance to party with all the BevCon attendees.
