Upcoming Delivery Service Wants to Bring Charleston Restaurants to Local Doorsteps

Upcoming Charleston-based Take-in seeks to offer an all-local meal delivery service with an additional emphasis on Lowcountry gourmet items — all within an online portal.

Company spokesperson Joe Walker (former owner of Stereo 8) says, “We’re part bodega, part farmer’s market, and part mercantile shop, featuring the best of what Charleston has to offer, delivered to your doorstep.”

Take-in customers will have the choice to shop as guests or join as members and will be able to order from a locally-sourced product list refreshed on a weekly basis. The offerings feature artisans and chefs, with options from food truck noodle bowls to handcrafted sodas.“Through the unique partnerships we’ve formed, we have the ability to bring our customers a number of gourmet items that they can't get delivered elsewhere,” says Walker.

Take-in's current product partner list includes: Cirsea Ice Cream, Dashi Food Truck, Callie's Charleston Biscuits, One Love Kombucha, Lowcountry Bodega, Bulls Bay Saltworks, Bittermilk Cocktail Mixers, Red Orchids Chinese Bistro, Charleston Artisan Cheesehouse, King Bean Coffee, Rio Bertolini's Fresh Pasta, Cannonborough Beverage Co., Grey Ghost Bakery, Natural Blonde Bloody Mary Mix, Root Baking Co., and Holy Smoke Olive Oil.

For now, Take-in is focused on select apartment and condominium complexes (concentrating on these housing structures maximizes delivery efficiency) with service starting shortly in communities on both Daniel Island and James Island. The company plans to include more complexes fairly quickly and will be offering limited residential service on a first come, first serve basis in the near future.
