New Mount Pleasant restaurant Mainland Container Co. Kitchen & Bar is throwing a big party to celebrate its opening. On Saturday, June 24, the eatery invited the band Occasional Milkshake to play, which includes guitarist Mark Bryan of super-popular South Carolina hit Hootie & the Blowfish. Mainland hopes customers will come for the Blowfish, but stay for the food.
The new eatery sits at 1528 Ben Sawyer Blvd., the former address of Sawyer’s On The Boulevard. Chef Chad Anderson, formerly of The Watch Rooftop & Kitchen, heads up the kitchen. The menu isn’t available online yet, but Anderson told The Post & Courier that the cuisine is “modern American beach fare with Lowcountry and local influences.” A scroll through Mainland’s Facebook page shows smoked meats, short ribs, and a Mexican shrimp cocktail.
