Graft Wants to Bring Wine to Charleston in a New Way

This is going to be fun

It’s not every day that a new wine shop announces its presence with a photo of old-school Beastie Boys and “Rock the Bells” from LL Cool J, but Graft won’t be an ordinary booze experience. Opening at 700 King St., Suite B, between the always-crowded Leon’s Oyster Shop and taqueria Pancito & Lefty, the newcomer will offer bottle retail with an opportunity to taste and hang out.

Graft comes from advanced sommelier Femi Oyediran and sommelier and winery vet Miles White. Those around Charleston may recognize Oyediran as the face of this year’s Charleston Wine + Food or from his time at Charleston Grill. The two have been close friends for a long time and independently got interested in wine. When White moved back to the Lowcountry from the west coast, the duo decided to bring the new concept to King Street.

Oyediran explains that many times he and Miles found themselves on the outside of conversations about wine and wanted a place that would reflect their personalities. Expect interesting bottles in a fun, hip hangout — maybe with LL Cool J on the speakers.

Graft should open late summer 2017.
