Eater is hearing chatter that long-standing fine dining restaurant Cypress may be closing sometime this summer. A source familiar with the situation tells Eater that employees were told over the past weekend that the last day for the restaurant is in a matter of months.
Additional sources who work in local real estate say that the two-story 167 East Bay St. building housing the restaurant is close to being sold. Cypress had one of the larger footprints in Charleston with multiple dining rooms and expansive kitchens. It’s unclear what sort of concept could take over the corner, but fingers crossed a Cheesecake Factory doesn't move into the massive space.
Eater reached out to Hospitality Management Group, Inc., who declined to comment publicly about the situation. Eater will update the post if any further information becomes known.
