This past year chef/co-owner Jeff Butler took time off from Folly Beach hangout The ‘Wich Doctor to recover from heart surgery and then required more leave due complications associated with that procedure, including intensive care for an infection. Due to the costs associated with the long hospital visit, friends of Butler and partner Krista Hines set up a GoFundMe page to help.
Now after a few months in recovery, Butler is ready to get back in the kitchen and reopen The ‘Wich Doctor. The last time noodles were served at the space was when chef Jeffrey Stoneberger of 2Nixons hosted a ramen pop-up at the restaurant and donated the funds to help with Butler’s recovery.
According to Facebook, the restaurant is taking a slow start to see what Butler can handle in the kitchen and will go from there.
