An Inside Look at Day One at Rodney Scott’s BBQ

And one handsome sandwich

Erin Perkins is the editor of Eater Carolinas.

While today is officially the first day of service at the frenzy-inducing Rodney Scott’s BBQ, yesterday the pitmaster and crew hosted a soft opening. Those willing to wait in line during lunch were hosted to pulled pork, fried catfish sandwiches, and various sides. The midday queue went around the block, but the restaurant reopened around dinner time and the crowds were more manageable.

Charleston food connoisseur and photographer Kenneth Andrews stopped by yesterday to give the new barbecue spot a spin. For those who didn’t get a chance to visit 1011 King St. yesterday, have a look around, ogle Andrews’ order, and marvel at the newest whole hog eatery to hit the Lowcountry.

Rodney Scott’s BBQ opens today at 11:30 a.m. for those wanting a first hand experience, but until then, these photos can be your gateway to pulled pork goodness.
