What’s better than famed pitmaster Rodney Scott’s whole hog barbecue? Free famed pitmaster Rodney Scott’s whole hog barbecue. In anticipation of opening Rodney Scott BBQ at 1011 King St., Scott and crew are hosting a soft opening today from noon to 3:00 p.m. (or when the food runs out). Scott’s publicist runs down the details here:

Today will be a training day, and guests can come from 12 - around 3 (until food runs out) and eat for free with a suggested donation to Charleston School for Math & Science for the children in need fun. Guests will draw from a hat for what entrée they can get, which will be either BBQ or catfish (trading in line is okay). One entrée per person, eat in or take out. Tea and coke will be free but no alcohol.

Rodney Scott BBQ doesn’t have a set opening date yet, but this is a start.
