Rodney Scott’s BBQ Is Really, Really, Really Close to Opening

Like, really, really

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. And where there’s fire near pitmaster Rodney Scott, there’s a whole hog slow cooking to perfection. There were reports of pungent wood smoke from 1011 King St. this week, along with sightings of the dining room at Rodney Scott’s BBQ. The brown paper covering the windows is down and Scott is testing the pits.

“Cook with love!” Scott teases on Facebook with a photo of a pig splayed out over the flames. The pitmaster says he is currently training the staff, but has yet to whisper a solid date for the opening.

Cook with love!

Could today be the day? Perhaps this weekend? Cooper Brewing posted on Instagram that Scott “... is about to throw down ...”

Just in case that haven't heard... #rodney is about to throw down on the #upperpeninsula

Perhaps Charleston will line up for whole hog goodness this weekend. Scott’s father and oldest son will run the original Scott's Bar-B-Que in Hemingway, while he gets the new shop running in the Lowcountry.

UPDATE: Scott changed his Instagram profile description to announce he would open next Tuesday.
