Authentic Polish food hits downtown Charleston

College hangout Silver Dollar will soon serve Polish fare alongside its $2 vodka drink deals and Bud Lights. A banner outside of the Upper King bar declares that food truck Krystyna's Authentic Polish Food will set up in the Silver Dollar kitchen soon.

According to its website, the mobile version of Krystyna’s will launch next month. The menu offers Polish classics, like potato and cheese pierogis, a kielbasa sandwich, stuffed cabbage rolls, and plenty of sauerkraut. At the Silver Dollar, these dishes will be accompanied by more traditional American bar snacks, like sliders and chicken wings.

Opened in 1999, Silver Dollar has always had a kitchen, but hasn’t really served food, except for a period when it had a pizza window.

Eater has contacted Krystyna’s to see when the pierogis will start to drop but has not heard back. Will the college students go for kielbasa? Will fans of Polish food rush to the bar at 478 King St.? We’ll update you with more details soon.
