They promise “classic, American cuisine”

Co-owners of waterfront eatery Fleet Landing, Tradd and Weesie Newton announced yesterday that the restaurant taking over the former Cypress space on East Bay Street will be named Tradd’s. With the help of local design firm Workstead, the interiors and exteriors will have a completely new look. Described as “casually elegant and upscale but not uptight,” the first-floor dining room will have a full bar and an “intimate and unexpected” champagne bar. The second floor will be home to an event space.

The menu will focus on “classic, American cuisine” and “high quality versions of old-school favorites.” When Eater asked for examples of this cuisine, we were told that nothing on the menu has been finalized, but Tradd’s will serve lunch and dinner. Previous tenant Cypress tried out an American classic menu in 2016, with items like chicken fried steak and fancy fish sticks.

Longtime Fleet Landing chef Drew Hedlund will helm the kitchen at Tradd’s, while sous chef DelJuan Murphy will move up to executive chef at Fleet Landing.

Expect Tradd’s to open in summer 2018.
