Sunshine-and-hip-vibe-eatery Basic Kitchen opened this morning at 8 a.m. for breakfast. But what’s on that breakfast menu? Chef Air Casebier has a list of offerings from chia overnight oats to avocado toast to breakfast tacos with pickled nopales. No big Southern-style plates here — the feeling is more California-style of morning meals. It’s very vegetarian friendly, as there’s only one dish with meat, and it’s turkey sausage. There’s also plenty of smoothies, like the Jittery Monkey, fresh-squeezed juices, and coffee drinks.

For those more interested in lunch, the vegetable-and-grain-heavy offerings continue past breakfast. Opt for pumpkin seed pate, Little Gem lettuces with green goddess dressing, sweet potato noodle bowls, vegetable curries, and more.

As of this week, Basic Kitchen is open for breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and for lunch from 11: 30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The plan is to eventually add a dinner service.
