Breeze Through Basic Kitchen on Opening Day

Go for breakfast or lunch this week

Erin Perkins is the editor of Eater Carolinas.

Entrepreneurs Ben and Kate Towill and their team at design group Basic Projects are ready to show off how they have transformed the former Andolini’s Pizza space at 82 Wentworth St. into stunning restaurant Basic Kitchen.

The interiors are bright and inviting with pops of green from plants and artwork. It’s an Instagrammer’s dream come true.

Chef Air Casebier, formerly of Husk, is in the kitchen. The official menu hasn’t been released, but past examples of fare have included grain bowls, hearty salads, and other “clean eating” staples, here’s how Basic Kitchen describes it:

Our goal is simple — use seasonal, local produce and the best ingredients to create food that’s nourishing and delicious. Food to fuel the things you love. We’re talking local produce, whole grains and legumes, a rainbow of spices and vinegars, lots of healthful oils, wild-caught seafood and sustainably raised meat. Through food, we can have a positive impact on our health, community and environment.

While waiting on that menu, take a tour through the space with Eater photographer Leslie McKellar. Basic Kitchen opens at 8 a.m. for the first day of breakfast and lunch services.
