CANNONBOROUGH/ELLIOTBOROUGHXiao Bao Biscuit invites celebrated Boston chef Matt Jennings to collaborate on a dinner in honor of his new cookbook, Homegrown. On Wednesday, October 25, from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., Jennings will bring New England flavors to XBB. Look for dishes such as chowder soup dumplings, lobster salad scallion pancakes, and mapo chili. Books will be available on site for purchase, and Jennings will be available to sign. The menu will be a la carte in lieu of the regular XBB menu. [EaterWire]

FRENCH QUARTER — Grab your tacky Rudolph sweaters and Santa hats because The Gin Joint will transform into an “over-the-top holiday themed pop-up bar” this holiday season. Brace for decorations, lots of Christmas lights, cookies, Chex mix, and themed cocktails starting November 24. New York cocktail aficionado Greg Boehm started this holiday pop-up concept in 2014 as Miracle on 9th Street at NYC bar Mace.
