Look for sports-heavy bar Uptown Social to move into the former Huger’s space at 587 King St. in 2018. The forthcoming establishment comes from NYC Best Bars, which operates eight bars in Manhattan, as well as two spots in Chicago. NYC Best Bars spots put an emphasis on beer, sports, bar snacks, and “being a good neighbor.”

The three of the partners behind Uptown Social, Kara Graves, Keith Benjamin, Jonathan Arzt, will live and work in Charleston. “Every minute we’re open, one or three of us will be there,” says Benjamin.

The upcoming bar will serve lunch and dinner with bar pizzas, a “great hamburger,” wings, and more. Uptown Social paired with Anthony Falco, formerly of Brooklyn-favorite Roberta’s Pizza, to consult on the pies, which will be thin-crust and crispy.

The space will boast 50 televisions with sports in heavy rotation. In addition to the 6,000 square feet of bar/restaurant on the first floor, the Upper King address will also have two private event spaces and accessible rooftop deck/bar.

Uptown Social wants to appeal to college students, post-grads, families, and neighbors (that’s everyone, right?). Look for the space to open early 2018.
