California wines are taking priority at Charleston Grill

In the wake of deadly and devastating fires in Northern California, Charleston Grill sommelier Rick Rubel and Charleston Grill GM Mickey Bakst want to support the families in the wine industry affected by the disaster. “These wineries have always stepped up to the plate when we need them,” said Rubel in a press release, “Now it’s our turn to pay the love forward.”

For the month of October, Charleston Grill will switch up its menu of wines by the glass to highlight California wines. A portion of the proceeds from these orders will go to donated to the Napa Valley Community Disaster Relief Fund and the Sonoma County Resilience Fund.

Bakst told Eater that he hopes this catches on across the country, with individual restaurants switching to California wines and donating to the relief funds. “Throughout my career, the wineries have always been there to help us with our charitable efforts,” said Bakst, “It’s time for the restaurant community to step up and support the industry that is so essential to our businesses.”
