When founding chef Damon Wise left the Scarecrow & Co. restaurant group in September, chef Raymond England stepped into the executive role. City Paper critic Vanessa Wolf praised England’s calamari and king mackerel in her review of the newcomer.

In response to recent inquiries if England left the group, the chef responded with an email confirming he has exited. He writes that “Over the past year I have greatly enjoyed renovating the space, developing the three restaurant concepts, and fulfilling my role as executive chef. The experience is definitely one that I will take with me throughout my career.”

He continues, “For now I am looking forward to becoming more a part of the Charleston food community, farmers and chefs alike.” England says he will keep Eater in the loop on future projects.

At the time of publication, England’s information is still listed on the Scarecrow & Co. website. Earlier emails to management at Scarecrow have not been returned.
