When Menkoi Ramen House cleared out of 41B George St. in September, it was only a matter of time before a new food concept took over. Real estate for restaurants is tight in downtown Charleston, and there are plenty of proprietors wanting to move in. The address won’t be anything novel to the close-to-campus spot, because Jack’s Cafe plans to expand into the space.
Downtown diner Jack's Cafe is shuttered in 2014 and reopened the following year with new owners Edward and Nancy Flynn. They renovated the dining room and added more options to the menu, which now includes late night options for the King Street crowds.
The expansion into the neighboring space will double the square footage for the restaurant. Jack’s Cafe estimates the renovations will finish within 60 days and plan to keep the original open throughout.
