When entrepreneur/reality show player JD Madison took over downtown staple Sermet’s Restaurant from longtime owner Sermet Asalan, the restaurant became a playground for Madison’s cohorts from Bravo’s Southern Charm. In the new year, it seems that he will be making some more changes, including the name. Announced on social media yesterday, Sermet’s will now be new concept Gentry Bar Home of Cocktails and Comfort Food. Madison also leads Gentry Bourbon company.

The announcement on Facebook reads:

After 23 years of serving Charleston, we have focused our energies on our James Island and Daniel Island restaurants. We want to thank you for all of your support throughout the years! The downtown location has been purchased and will reopen in March as the Gentry Bar Home of Cocktails and Comfort Food. Check out the website for all the details.

The only thing questionable about the announcement is the declaration that the space was purchased, since Madison took over Sermet’s quite some time ago.

Stay tuned for more details as they come before the opening in March.
