The signage has been scrubbed and the dining room emptied at 41B George St., the former site of Menkoi Ramen House. The sign on the door reads, “Thank You Bye” with a tiny sad face in the corner. Menkoi arrived in Charleston in 2014. It shuttered for a bit in 2015, and quickly reopened with new owners and the same menu.
The restaurant served as an affordable meal option for nearby students, a late night spot for King Street partiers, and a hangover cure for a few.
Eater hasn’t been able to reach the owners to ask about the sudden closure, but if you have any ideas, let us know. Any guesses as to what may go into the space next? Keep eyes here to read about any movements at 41B George St.
