Green breakfast spot Freshii vacated 315 King St. earlier this summer and now family-owned eatery Beech will move in. The new tenants Keegan Bird and wife Audrey, along with brother Danny Bird and fiancé Allie, describe their group as “first-time restaurant owners just chasing a dream.” And their dream is to bring cold-pressed juices, smoothies, filling wraps, fresh bagels, and poke to Lower King.

For those who haven’t caught on to the nationwide trend, poke is a classic Hawaiian dish comprised of sliced, raw fish and various mix-ins. The dish is currently on menus at 167 Raw and The Darling.

Beech is currently in the middle of renovating the 315 King St. address. According to Instagram, the Birds have completely dismantled any traces of Freshii and the former frozen yogurt shop.

Keegan predicts that the shop could be ready for a soft opening at the beginning of September and a grand opening near the last of the month. “There are a lot of details for us to dial in so we figured to start with the basics, take the time needed to dial everything in, and implement the additional offerings for the grand opening,” he says.

Look for more details on Beech as it moves forward.
