Too many eateries in the Lowcountry?

Remember that super exciting news that Top Chef winner Kristen Kish would pair with local restaurateur Brooks Reitz for a Charleston establishment? Reminder from Kish’s Instagram:

Many of you have already been guessing, as my adoration and love for Charleston has been no secret for several years now. @brooksreitz and I began our conversation 2 years ago and after our meeting in #nyc, we are making the exciting leap to finding that perfect FIRST RESTAURANT space. Stay tuned. #Charleston❗️

According to City Paper, it’s on hold. Supposedly, there’s too many new places opening up here for them to think they can sustain a thriving staff to keep the dining room running. It’s no secret that everyone complains about the lack of chefs and servers to stock the establishments here.

While Reitz says it could be a few years before the Kish project is revisited, we’ll still keep our ear to the ground.
